CURRENT PROJECTS

HEALTH

In Health, we will be working on Me Stories.  The students will be making a cover for the book.  They will then write a stories telling about their lives.  We will type up the stories.  The children will illustrate them, and they will be bound in our Publishing Company.

ENGLISH

In English, the students have been working with Nouns.  They have already completed a Noun Book.  They will soon be completing a Common and Proper Noun Poster.

SOCIAL STUDIES

In Social Studies, we are studying the First Settlements in America.  We are looking at the settlements of Roanoke, Jamestown, and Plymouth.  We are also discussing the memorable people involved with these settlements.  We have created pocket books where we are storing our projects and important papers.  We will soon begin discussing the Thirteen Original Colonies.  With these two units, the students are doing many hands-on activities in the classroom.  We will be making our first mini-book as well as be creating a timeline of the formation of the colonies.

SCIENCE

In Science, we are working on the Food and Nutrition Unit.  We have studied fats and are now discussing sugar.  Each item we discuss has labs which go with it.  Ask your child about these labs.  They are enjoying them and learning in the process!
