With the right communications tools and interactive learning activities, distance education can overcome the barriers of physical separation and provide a learning environment that, in some cases, even surpasses the interactivity of a live classroom. Some of our ideas for on-line learning opportunities include: the exchange of reports on various topics in different languages both written and oral, our students could create on-line Flash cards w/audio files teaching common "english" words to foreign students while the partner students create them in their "native" language, teachers could share lesson plan ideas, create/share on-line quizzes and tests, have children email each other about everyday life, weather, etc.
