Overview of Reading Recovery Program
The
Reading Recovery program was developed by New Zealand educator Marie Clay.
The primary goal is to help children become independent readers.
Through the program first grade students who are "at risk " develop a self
improving system for continual growth and learn the strategies that good readers
use.
In the Reading Recovery program, children
receive one-on-one instruction for thirty minutes daily. During these
lessons, children interact with interesting and meaningful text through reading
many "little books" and writing stories.
