Our Program
The WCTS Nursing program offers a one year full-time evening program.  Our hours are 3pm to 10pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional daytime clinical experiences on Saturdays.  We are currently accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year.   The tentative academic schedule will start the first week of September and run for 45 weeks through July with an August graduation.  Clinical experiences will start in October and increase as the program progresses to include long-term care, rehabilitation, medical-surgical, pediatrics, maternity and psychiatric nursing. 

Our Philosophy
Nursing is an art, as well as a science, in which the holistic needs of the individual are met by use of the nursing process. The nursing process incorporates scientific principles, interpersonal and psychomotor skills. The practice of nursing takes place in an ever changing environment which requires caring, critical thinking, competency, accountability, client advocacy, and life long learning.

Our Mission
We provide both didactic and clinical instruction within a curriculum that promotes development of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to prepare students for the NCLEX exam and thereby entry level employment in practical nursing.  In addition, to facilitate students to become safe and competent practitioners who will continue to grow and learn while they care for the community.

Anatomy and Physiology
Math and Medication Administration

2nd semester
Medical-Surgical Nursing
Psychiatric Nursing
Pharmacology

3rd semester
Pediatric Nursing
Maternity Nursing
Nursing Roles and Transition to Practice

Admission Requirements

• Evidence of professional behavior and attitude suitable to a nursing career.
• High School Diploma or GED as evidenced by an official HS transcript.
• Physical examination and urine drug screen.
• Current immunizations including MMR, PPD.
• Valid CPR certification.
• Criminal background check.
• Successful completion of a Basic Skills Test.

Clinical Sites
Currently, our clinical site experiences include The Care Center at Brakely Park, Phillipsburg Care Center, Rolling Hills Care Center, Warren Haven, Warren Hospital, Hackettstown Hospital, Hagedorn Geriatric Hospital, Hunterdon Developmental Center and more.

Program Completion
Students completing the course receive a School of Practical Nursing diploma. Graduates may then apply to the NJ State Board of Nursing to take the NCLEX Examination to become LPNs. Many and varied employment opportunies are available in Subacute and Long-Term Care, Physician offices, home health care, and New Jersey State Agencies. LPNs have opportunities to specialize in areas of nursing in which they are interested and to advance professionally through additional training.

Tuition is $6,500 (Warren County residents).
