US History I
Edison's Impact on Rural Warren County

Warren County Technical School
Instructor: Nancy Trible

Interior of Edison's cement plant After noticing the historical marker designating a spot where Edison's concrete facility once operated on Route 57, it occurred to me that the connection between Thomas Alva Edison and Warren County is not very well known. I decided that I wanted my students to see that connection.

Since I teach at a county based technical school, it seemed logical to me to share this connection with my students. What better person to research than Thomas Alva Edison? Another great angle for this project was the research involving the county's history. Many people are unaware that Edison had quarries and a concrete manufacturing plant in the county. This project will enable the students to explore Edison's ideas and examine his impact on Warren County.
