The Warren Tech health education curriculum is a four-year module in which students gain knowledge to promote informed decision making skills. The curriculum includes units in family life, sub¬stance abuse, infectious and noninfectious disease, first-aid and safety, nutrition, mental health and human growth and development. The curriculum content also addresses consumer, community, environmental and current events health issues. Emphasis is placed on the value of decision making to promote physical, mental and social well-being.

The Warren Tech physical education curriculum offers individual units in a variety of individual, dual and team sports, as well as dance. The curriculum includes competitively as well as cooperative ac¬tivities, lifetime activities and activities to promote lifelong physical fitness. Individual units are struc¬tured to provide an atmosphere conducive to skills development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and safety. The curriculum is designed to promote individual enthusiasm for a healthy attitude toward the diversity of physical activities and an appreciation of the lifelong benefits of regular, vigorous exer¬cise.

DRIVER EDUCATION

10 th grade 1.25 credits

The classroom curriculum will center on the following general areas which include, but are not limited to, basic vehicle control and maneuvers, safe driving and efficient practices, handling complex emergencies, emergency skills, influences that affect a driver's ability, and consumer responsibilities. These areas will be covered in the NJ Manual. The "behind the wheel" phase of the program will re¬inforce the content areas with practical on the road training. The ultimate goal for the students will be to acquire the understanding and maturity needed to prepare them to survive and safely succeed in our complex highway transportation system.
