Exploring various technology systems and manufacturing processes, students will learn how engineers and technicians use math, science and technology in an engineering problem solving process to benefit people. This course will also address concerns about the social and political consequences of technological change. Courses students will participate in are: Principles of Engineering, Digital Electronics, Introduction to Engineering & Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, and Engineering Design & Development. LAW & PUBLIC SAFETY ACADEMYOBJECTIVE:To enable students to have an opportunity to experience the multi-faceted career opportunities associated with the criminal justice field through forensics, off-campus visits, guest lectures, internships, and classroom education. Highlights of the Law & Public Safety AcademyDuring the course of study, students will participate in courses such as the History of Law Enforcement, Laws of the US and NJ, and Law, Public Safety and Security. During these course students will participate in the Criminal Justice Training Curriculum, interact with criminal justice professionals, and learn about state of the art forensics. VISUAL ARTS ACADEMYOBJECTIVES:To provide students with an integrated program of digital illustration and design that includes print production. To provide students with a comprehensive academic background and hands-on experience with state-of-the-art hardware, software, and equipment that prepares students for both college programs and high tech employment HIGHLIGHTS OF THE VISUAL ARTS ACADEMY: GRAPHIC ARTSThe Graphic Arts portion of the Visual Arts Academy will offer college preparatory level instruction in addition to on-the-job training. This curriculum will include all aspects of the printing trade such as: computer graphics, desktop publishing layout and design, typesetting, paste-up, pre-press and bindery. Students will be using state-of-the-art equipment and standard industry software such as Adobe Pagemaker, Illustrator, and PhotoShop. Students completing this course of study may earn up to 12 free college credits at Sussex Community College. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE VISUAL ARTS ACADEMY: COMMERCIAL ARTSThe Commercial Arts portion of the Visual Arts Academy features college preparatory program instruction in the major areas of the commercial art industry including: computer graphics, desktop publishing layout and print design, typography, font design, digital illustration and photo re-touching. Students will work in a state-of-the-art MAC/PC lab outfitted with scanners and color laser printers. Industry standard software such as Quark Express, Adobe Pagemaker, Illustrator, PhotoShop, and In-Design will be used to create their projects. Students will also be working with traditional art mediums such as: acrylics, watercolor, gouache, markers, pen, and ink, to be used to create art for scanning into layouts and digital manipulation.Students completing this course of study may earn up to 12 free college credits at Sussex Community College. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE COMMUNICATIONS ACADEMY:Students will participate in the following courses: Introduction to Television Production, Introduction to Radio Production, Electronic News gathering, Electronic Field Production, Portable Audio, Advanced Video & Audio Production, Basics of Computer Graphics & Animation, Digital Audio Production, and Advanced Animation. Its curriculum is balanced by related electives and other core academics courses that will help students to become creative, multi-faceted performers who are well prepared for rigorous college programs.
