(WHITE TWP.)
– A fire truck, a wood chipper, and three blood pressure machines are just a few of the items that are going, going and soon to be gone as Warren County holds its annual auction of surplus government property.

The auction will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at the Warren County Road Department Garage, 185 County Route 519 South in White Township, just south of Belvidere.

“We have a fire truck for sale this year, a motor home and nearly 30 vehicles,” county Purchasing Agent Christopher J. Pessolano said.

“There are always some great deals at the county auction,” Pessolano added.

The auction begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until everything has been sold. Items may be examined during a preview on Friday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and after 9 a.m. on the day of the sale.

The fire truck was used by the Warren County Fire Academy, while the motor home was converted into a tactical response vehicle for Public Safety Department, and was known as Fieldcom-1. Both have been replaced by the County with newer models.

Other vehicles available include dump trucks, pickup trucks, buses and cars. Pessolano said the auction also includes the wood chipper; a treadmill; office equipment; nursing supplies; kitchen and household supplies; telephones, radios and pagers; and “a lot of computer equipment.”

Prospective bidders must register at the auction. Everything sold as is, where is, and payment must be in cash or by certified check made payable to “County of Warren.” For items sold for $400 or more, a $100 cash deposit is required.

All items other than vehicles must be paid in full on the day of the auction. With all titled equipment, such as the vehicles, Pessolano said buyers are urged to pay in full on sale day, but non-refundable 10 percent deposit will be accepted. Balance in full is due no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, September 14, and vehicles must be removed by that time also.

The auction is conducted by Stephan J. Miranti Auction Liquidation Services of Eatontown, NJ. For a brochure on the sale or to see photographs of selected items, visit
