TeenSpace This page is broken into three sections. The first division is "Career Choices". By clicking on "Career Choices", you will visit a page that contains a list of sites that will help you narrow down that career choice. Once you have narrowed down your career interests, you can click on the "Career Biographies" division which contains professional insight into individual careers. Finally, you can visit the "Career Preparation" division to learn interview, cover letter, and resume tips. So have fun exploring the online career fair! Career InfoNet Career Resource Library: Career videos are available for the nearly 300 occupations from A - Z. The videos are streamed in RealPlayer format. Download times may vary. School to Careers by Iowa Public Television School to Careers is a career development project for 7-12th grade students, educators and parents. Through video, Web and interactive activities students are introduced to career professionals, projects and ideas that help them identify their interests and plan for their futures. Over 200 career professionals are profiled on the Web site through video, photos and text. Through discussion boards and interactive activities students gain a realistic portrait of a variety of career pathways. About.com - Career Choices Are you looking for detailed information on a career choice? This growing library of articles, written by your About Guide, covers a variety of career choices. Articles include links to professional associations, trade journals, and job listings. Looking for just a brief definition of an occupation? You'll find it in the Career Planning Glossary. You'll also find links to more detailed information for each occupation listed. JobWeb Career development is broken into four stages, and JobWeb has divided information accordingly: Discovery, Exploration, Experience & Experiment, and Choice. JobStar JobStar is a public library sponsored guide to information for the job search. Sections useful for local areas are: 1,000 job hotlines, calendar of job and career events, career centers, libraries. Sections useful to anyone in the US are: guide to job ads, electronic resume banks, career section, resume guide, links to 300 salary surveys and guides to salary negotiation. Interactive feature: Ask Electra, the Electronic Librarian. Vocational Information Center Explore vocational and technical careers with the following links. Each career path page on the Vocational Information Center Website includes links to various career descriptions as well as links to educational sites relating to the specific career; such as; tutorials, directories, associations, industry news, glossaries and related academics. Career Exploration Links - Provides links to the major career groups. Education (College and University) Planning Guide Providing plans and advice for going to college. This education (college) planning center includes planning calendars, financial aid summary notes, downloadable application forms, moving plans and more. What you will find is a simple step-by-step plan that links to all the information you need to plan your college and after-college career. Common Interview Questions Creating a Powerful Resume Career Browser What do you want to be? What college major will get you there? To start exploring careers, pick a general career category from the list below. From there, you can browse specific jobs and learn about working conditions, job forecasts, related professions, and what you can be doing right now to reach your goals. Career Self Assessment Self assessment is the process of gathering information about yourself in order to make an informed career decision. Learn about value, interest, and personality inventories, skill assessments, and computer-assisted career guidance assessments. |
