"There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One is roots; the other, wings." -- Carter Hodding
~PLAY IS THE WORK OF CHILDREN~ Children’s play gives them a sense of importance, independence, adventure, knowledge, strength, confidence, pride, accomplishment and an understanding about themselves and their surroundings. Children have the potential to be as much as we allow them to be. By encouraging our children to try and explore and allow them to pursue their interests, children are given an outlet for creativity, feelings, and passion. I have prepared the following information as a resource for you. It will help you better understand areas of our classroom where the children are interested in playing and engaged in learning. It will help clarify the benefits of “play time” in the preschool curriculum. Because parents do not always get the chance to see each aspect of their children’s day, here they are able to see what skills and goals the teachers help the children to reach during their school day. It is by no means an inclusive list of what can be done by children in a day, but an idea of what we have and can offer. Preschool is a busy place, and this is only a small part of what we do each day! Enjoy your reading! ~Mrs. Remaly |
