Objectives: To use estimation to determine amount of items that can be purchased given $1,000,000, To find items price on WWW and calculate actual amount possible

Required Materials: Computer with Internet access, Conclusion print-out, Lined paper

Anticipatory Set (Lead-In): Knowledge of navigating webpage for specifics, Ability to do long division

Step-By-Step Procedures:

1.     Students formulate an estimate of how many computers they could purchase with a million dollars (same with Ford Mustangs)

2.     Students look up list prices for computers and Ford Mustangs

3.     Students use list prices to calculate actual number they would be able to purchase

Closure (Reflect Anticipatory Set): Discuss why they estimated as they did and how they arrived at their answers

Assessment Based On Objectives (attach rubric from http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php) : Collect worksheet of student estimates and work showing how they arrived at their actual answers, Discussion

Adaptations/Modifications (For Students with Learning Disabilities): Allow to use a calculator for division, but require to write out what they type in

 Extensions (For Gifted Students): Estimate/Calculate for other types of cars or other items of their choice
