Tech Lab – Addition Spreadsheet

1)                 Open a blank Excel spreadsheet.

2)                 We will go through the steps to put your name and title on your spreadsheet out loud together.

3)                 Once I am done with the first set of directions, you will type the following on your spreadsheet. All your entries should go in the same cell on the spreadsheet as this table shows.

4)                 You should center your cell entries. To do this, highlight them and go to the “Format” menu. Select “Alignment” and then “Center.”

5)                 When you are done, save it into your student folder. It should be called “Addition SS.”

6)                 Print your spreadsheet. You will be called up to get your spreadsheet when it prints. Do not get out of your seat otherwise. If there are no mistakes on your spreadsheet, you may close it.

7)                 Study your spreadsheet (especially the third column) and figure out what the computer did.

8)                 Open a blank MS Word document. Type your name and the date. Hit return twice.

9)                 Type the title “Addition Spreadsheet Paragraph” and center it. Hit return twice.

10)             Type a full paragraph of at least 5 sentences. Your paragraph should explain what the computer did when you typed the third column and how you think it knew to do it.

11)             When you are done, save the paragraph into your student folder. It should be called “Addition SS Para.”

12)             Print your paragraph. You will be called up to get your paper when it prints. Do not get out of your seat otherwise. If there are no mistakes in your paragraph, you may close it.

13)             Neatly staple your two papers together with the spreadsheet on top and hand it in along with your directions. You may then play any game from Mrs. Laubach’s website.
