Lesson Plan Title: Addition Spreadsheet

Teacher: Mrs. Laubach

Subject: Math

NJCCC Standards Addressed: 4.1A, 4.1B, 4.3B, 4.5B, 4.5F

Objectives: To learn the vocabulary of spreadsheets, to discover how to enter formulas in Excel

Required Materials: Computer with MS Excel

Anticipatory Set (Lead-In): Ability to save into student folder

Step-By-Step Procedures:

1. Discuss history of spreadsheets and vocabulary associated with them.

2. Using accompanying worksheet, students type in addends and formulas.

3. Seeing the resulting spreadsheets, students examine how the formulas worked and explain in a paragraph.

Closure (Reflect Anticipatory Set): Students share their paragraphs, Using projector students participate in teacher led discussion to make another spreadsheet where three columns of numbers are added (students provide formulas) 

Assessment Based On Objectives: Collection of printouts, Compare final products to requirements from worksheet
