The Cinematography & Film/Video Production program is a comprehensive, process-centered program which prepares students interested in the area of multi-media production. Students will integrate digital video, graphics, sound, and animation to create presentations through artistic collaboration. They also learn to relate the production to social and historical context while forming aesthetic judgments. This program has won over 100 awards for its audio and video productions, including three Telly Awards. Family PC Magazine named one of our students as one of the “Top Ten Wired Teens” in the country, and MSNBC named the program one of the country’s “Cool Schools.” Students produce several programs which air on Comcast cable, including: The Working Advantage, Experience Education, Real to Reel, Kidz Video Network, Kid Witness News, and Comcast Newsmakers which airs on the top of every hour on CNN Headline News.
Cinematography & Film/Video Production I prerequisite - none 10 credits
In this year, students will have the opportunity to experience instruction in portable audio production, which includes editing and dubbing. This course also allows flexibility to be able to delve into radio production and work hands on with top-notch equipment that would allow for the production of programmable audio.
Cinematography & Film/Video Production II prerequisite -Film I 15 credits
This year will offer students to acquire the skills necessary to utilize video as a way of relaying information. The combination of production of video and electronic news gathering offer a varied, workable, hands-on curriculum that drives the standard of quality in television production.
Cinematography & Film/Video Production III prerequisite -Film II 15 credits
In this block, the student will enhance their skills and experiences in video and audio production. This is done through independent work projects and cooperative group assignments. Students in this course will participate in the various production experiences. They will also become familiarized with animation and graphic integration.
Cinematography & Film/Video Production IV prerequisite -Film III 15 credits
In this section, the students will learn the skills to produce digital audio and digital video pieces that will correlate to real-world scenarios. Also, students will utilize the concepts of video graphic design and implementation. The course will offer students the opportunity to work on longer assignments, such as documentaries, short movies, and a variety of live practical jobs.

Graduation Requirements
The following are high school graduation requirements as established through state law/regulations or Board policy.
Satisfactory completion of a Board of Education approved program consisting of:
4 years of English
4 years of Health/Physical Education
3 years of Social Studies (World History, U.S. History I, and U.S. History II)
3 years of Mathematics and 3 years of Science
1 year of Fine, Practical, or Performing Arts
1 year of Business Management
Senior Year Research Paper
1 year of a World Language (2 years for college prep)

A senior must take and complete a national or state-validated test in their vocational area. Students must take a class every period. There are NO STUDY HALLS. It is anticipated that students, on average, will graduate with 170 credits, inclusive of state-mandated and CTE requirements. Students must pass the HSPA in Reading, Mathematics, and Writing in order to receive a diploma unless exempt through the I.E.P. process.
Students who fail their Career Major/Academy Program or three or more courses for the entire year will not be re-admitted to WCTS for the following year.
Each course of study required for graduation shall include a statement of the required proficiencies to be mastered by the students enrolled in the course. Credit for each required course will be awarded upon the successful completion of the program assigned and satisfaction of the proficiencies identified. Students shall be given every reasonable opportunity to remediate and satisfy failed proficiencies.
Successful completion of remedial courses in HSPA English or HSPA Mathematics will count toward the total number of credits required for graduation. However, those courses will not satisfy the curriculum requirement for high school English or Mathematics.
