Students follow a curriculum that is intensive in finance and business principles. Furthermore, it also exposes them to a comprehensive picture of career options available within the industry. A wide range of business subjects is taught to provide students with a broad base of knowledge. All theoretical concepts are enhanced through direct applications with current issues and media events. Students will develop a professional business plan. Among the on-site tasks and responsibilities are operating our school store and our state-of-the-art full service Knights Café. One year of Business Management is a requirement for all WCTS students. In a recent survey among Business Management students, most were intent in continuing their education at either two-year or four-year colleges and universities.
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT I Prerequisite- none 10 credits
The coursework for this year includes an introduction to business. This course gives students a broad overview of business. Topics include marketing, economics, business ethics, business organization, entrepreneurship, small business management, career exploration, business technology, finance, accounting, and business operations.
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT II Prerequisite- BUS. MGT. I 10 credits
Business management II is a course that explores the financial components of business. In this course, students will learn how businesses manage finances and resources in order to be successful. Students will explore accounting, finance, business math, and personal finance. This course also includes the study and application of business technology. Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access will be covered.
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT III Prerequisite- BUS. MGT. II 15 credits
This course is designed to have students take an in-depth look into the strategic and operational components of business. Students will explore how businesses are organized, compete with other companies, and how they are bought, owned, and sold.
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT IV Prerequisite- BUS. MGT. III 15 credits
Business Management IV includes a course on business planning and operations. This is a full year, project-based course that focuses on the practical applications of business management techniques. Business planning and operations coursework is the capstone course for the Business Management Academy. As part of the curriculum, students will create a business plan for the Warren Tech school store. Students will operate and manage the store. Students will utilize strategic management techniques as well as operational techniques to increase store profit. This is done through strategic marketing and realizing the potential for captivating school spirit through sales of school shirts, hats, and jackets. The course is designed to allow students to utilize the theories and ideas learned throughout the business management academy through practical application.
* Students will gain experience in other career areas as topics of discussion and projects present themselves, e.g., opening a salon.

Graduation Requirements
The following are high school graduation requirements as established through state law/regulations or Board policy.
Satisfactory completion of a Board of Education approved program consisting of:
4 years of English
4 years of Health/Physical Education
3 years of Social Studies (World History, U.S. History I, and U.S. History II)
3 years of Mathematics
3 years of Science
1 year of Fine, Practical, or Performing Arts
Senior Year Research Paper
1 year of a World Language (2 years for college prep)

A senior must take and complete a national or state-validated test in their vocational area. Students must take a class every period. There are NO STUDY HALLS. It is anticipated that students, on average, will graduate with 170 credits, inclusive of state-mandated and CTE requirements. Students must pass the HSPA in Reading, Mathematics, and Writing in order to receive a diploma unless exempt through the I.E.P. process.
Students who fail their Career Major/Academy Program or three or more courses for the entire year will not be re-admitted to WCTS for the following year.
Each course of study required for graduation shall include a statement of the required proficiencies to be mastered by the students enrolled in the course. Credit for each required course will be awarded upon the successful completion of the program assigned and satisfaction of the proficiencies identified. Students shall be given every reasonable opportunity to remediate and satisfy failed proficiencies.
Successful completion of remedial courses in HSPA English or HSPA Mathematics will count toward the total number of credits required for graduation. However, those courses will not satisfy the curriculum requirement for high school English or Mathematics.
